South East Vet Referrals is an independent, multi-disciplinary referral centre in Sevenoaks, Kent. We opened in December 2024 and we have grown around the right people ever since.

Today our clinical team spans neurology, ophthalmology, internal medicine and oncology. It includes RCVS Recognised Specialists Dr Rodolfo Cappello and Ane Uriarte in neurology, Dr Richard Everson in ophthalmology and Dr Sarah Mason in oncology, alongside our Referral Medicine Clinician Dr Vicky Neale and a referral nursing and administrative team who hold the whole experience together.

We are not part of a corporate group making decisions in a distant head office. We are independent, which means the people doing the work make the calls, and the team has a real say in how the centre grows.

How we work

We built SEVR around a simple idea. Give good clinicians the autonomy to do their best work, keep the team small enough that everyone is heard, and grow carefully around people rather than targets.

In practice that means:

• Clinicians have the freedom to make the right call for the case, without layers of sign-off.
• Decisions are made in the building, by the people doing the work.
• Everyone gets a say in how we operate and where we go next.
• While we grow, the priority is that people enjoy the work. That is not a nice-to-have, it is how we keep good clinicians and good nurses.

Start a service with us

Most referral centres advertise a vacancy and wait for someone to fit the box. We do it the other way round. We grow around the right person.

That is exactly how our ophthalmology service started. We met a specialist we wanted to build around, and we built around them. We would happily do the same again.

So if you are a surgeon (soft tissue or orthopaedics), a dermatologist, or any clinician who wants to build and lead a service inside an independent centre with full clinical freedom, we would love to hear from you. There is no formal vacancy to point you at, just a direct line to Fran and an open conversation about what you would want to build.
